The Head of UEFA Academy, Thomas Junod, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at upcoming iWorkinSport Education Virtual Expo in April.
Junod will cover the recent global hot topic “The importance of Education in the Sports Industry in the 21st century.”
iWorkinSport’s founder Joao Frigerio said “Having Thomas Junod as the keynote speaker of the upcoming Education Virtual Expo is a remarkable addition to the programme. UEFA not only invests in education, with the organisation of its own UEFA Academy, but it also has hired a large number of sports masters graduates, from various courses. It will be insightful to learn from someone who understands the real value that a world-class sports organisation gives to formal education and training.”
Junod’s role at UEFA sees him leading the Confederation’s executive education, research and university relations team. His team is responsible for the educational initiatives, certificates, knowledge sharing and research to all UEFA's member associations, as well as individuals working in the sports industry.
"Football is a beautifully simple game but the organisation of the sport has become a very complex industry," said Junod to Inside UEFA in 2019. "One just has to look at UEFA, where there are hundreds of people all involved in different football specialities. Therefore it is vitally important that we can provide educational programmes to train people in activities as diverse as football competition management or dealing with medical and legal aspects within the game."
The iWorkinSport Education Virtual Expo takes place from 6-8 April. It is a free event that is ideal for anyone who’s considering investing in education as a way to boost their sports career – whether already in the industry or looking to enter it.
