Why the University of Bath?

The University of Bath has an outstanding reputation in sport and has received several major sport-related recognitions. Most notably, it was named “Sport University of the Year 2026” by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, reflecting the strength of its overall sport ecosystem, facilities, athlete support, and performance pathways.

Bath is also a UK Sport–accredited Elite Training Centre (ETC), recognising it as a high-performance base for Olympic and Paralympic preparation. In addition, Bath is consistently highlighted for excellence in Sports Science, including strong UK subject rankings and global recognition.

iWorkinSport’s founder and CEO, Joao Frigerio, commented on the choice of the University of Bath to host the company’s flagship event in 2026

“Choosing a new host venue for this milestone edition was always going to require a partner that matches the ambition, credibility, and international standing of the iWorkinSport community. That is why we are proud to collaborate with the University of Bath - a globally recognised institution at the intersection of sport, education, leadership, and innovation", he said.

Frigerio continued: "Bath is also the perfect location to bring together the European sports ecosystem in an accessible and inspiring environment  - combining international connectivity, a high-quality campus experience, and the atmosphere of one of the UK’s most iconic cities.”

Professor Polly McGuigan, University of Bath’s Head of Department for Health, said: “As a department, we are deeply committed to advancing sport through world-leading research, education, and close engagement with industry. Hosting this milestone event with iWorkinSport allows us to connect our students, staff, and partners with the European sports ecosystem, translating academic excellence into real-world impact. As part of the University of Bath we are proud to contribute our expertise in sport and exercise science and management to this international collaboration”.

Professor Deborah Wilson, Dean for Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Bath, added: “We are delighted to welcome this landmark event to the University of Bath. Partnering with iWorkinSport reflects our shared commitment to shaping the future of the sports industry through education, innovation, and leadership. Recently named Sports University of the Year 2026, we are proud to host the European sports community on our campus and to connect ideas, talent, and global perspectives in an environment designed to inspire excellence.”
