Main goal
The Senior Venue Operations Planning Manager plays a critical leadership role, ensuring that all nine UEFA EURO 2028 venues are well prepared and operationally ready for the tournament. This senior position involves driving strategy, managing resources and overseeing the execution of venue operations in close cooperation with all key stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of a world-class event.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and preparation
- Leadership: driving the planning and preparation process across all EURO 2028 venues, working closely with stadium operators and the UK&I Stadium Liaison Team
- Strategy and implementation: developing a comprehensive venue operations strategy
- Overlay implementation: managing and arbitrating the allocation of space and infrastructure (the EURO overlay) to meet tournament requirements and the needs of specific projects and target groups
- Stadium account management
Operations and dismantling
- Operations: establishing efficient venue management processes to ensure high-quality match delivery and related contingency plans
- Training support: creating training materials and briefing documents for venue teams and supporting the event readiness programme
- Final touches: leading the venues’ final preparations and ensuring proper dismantling of the EURO 2028 overlay
Resources and budget management
- Budgeting: managing the budget allocated to central planning and ensuring cost-effective resource allocation
- Recruitment: building up the Venue Operations Central Planning team and supporting the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of venue teams
Working visit cycle
- Ensuring efficient implementation and oversight of venue working visits
Requirements
Experience:
- 8 or more years of relevant experience
Education:
- Bachelor's in event management, sport or venue operations
Languages:
Other requirements:
- Available to relocate for several months on-site during the final stage of preparations and the tournament itself
- Available for regular travel during the planning and preparation phase (meetings, working visits, training sessions)
- Advanced knowledge of MS applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
- Knowledge of AI tools and interested in new technologies generally
- Comfortable working in an international environment
- Interested in football and stadiums
- Good network within football
- Any additional languages would be an advantage
