On July 24, 2024, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) selected the French Alps to host the 26th Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2030.

The Olympic Games are expected to take place from February 1 to 17, 2030, while the Paralympic Games will be held from March 1 to 10, 2030.

The French Alps 2030 project is collectively supported by the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions, alongside local authorities hosting the various sporting events, the CNOSF, the CPSF, and the French government. The competitions will be held across four main hubs:

  • Nice (Alpes-Maritimes): Ice sports;
  • Briançon area (Hautes-Alpes): Freestyle skiing and snowboarding;
  • Tarentaise Valley (Savoie): Alpine skiing, bobsleigh/luge/skeleton, and Nordic combined;
  • Aravis Massif (Haute-Savoie): Biathlon and cross-country skiing.
  • The final selection of sites, including those for the opening and closing ceremonies, is still in progress.

The aforementioned stakeholders have now joined forces to establish and implement the Organizing Committee for the 2030 Alpes Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP Alpes 2030), the entity responsible for organizing, planning, financing, and delivering the Games.

Role

Reporting to the President, with whom you will work in close and daily collaboration, you will lead the Organizing Committee's activities to ensure excellence, overall consistency, and adherence to deadlines and budget.

This high-profile international role will be responsible for structuring, developing, and leading COJOP Alpes 2030 while ensuring compliance with the IOC, IPC, and all stakeholder requirements, delivering a successful 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Missions & Responsibilities

  • In tandem with the President, implement the overall strategy defined by the COJOP Alpes 2030 governance in accordance with the IOC's guidelines.
  • Oversee the strategic and operational planning of the project, ensuring the coherence and timely advancement of the organization.
  • Lead sustainability and social responsibility initiatives to deliver "sober, reasoned, and exemplary" Games.
  • Establish the internal structure of COJOP, including recruiting and empowering senior leadership teams.
  • Develop a motivating management strategy aligned with Olympic and Paralympic values and a resource allocation strategy.
  • Optimize COJOP’s financial resources, ensure cost control, and manage an exemplary and sustainable budget.
  • Lead external communications in France and internationally to maximize engagement around the Games, their impact, and legacy.
  • Monitor permanent infrastructure projects managed by SOLIDEO ALPES 2030, acting as an intermediary between SOLIDEO and international sports federations to ensure infrastructure meets sporting needs.
  • Oversee temporary venue arrangements for competitions under COJOP's responsibility.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders (IOC, IPC, international federations, national Olympic and Paralympic movements, private partners, public authorities, and civil society).
  • Act as a mediator between stakeholders, local territories, sports, and government institutions to ensure coordination and collaboration.
  • Ensure the successful operational delivery of the Games in line with Alpes 2030's sustainability commitments.
  • Implement legacy initiatives and engage stakeholders in a shared roadmap to maximize the long-term regional impact of the Games.

Profile Requirements

Expected Experience

  • A graduate of higher education, you have solid experience in sports and/or large-scale event management.
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted challenges involved in organizing the world’s largest sporting event and can lead the COJOP's five-year journey from inception to final delivery.
  • You possess recognized expertise in strategic planning, project management, and leadership of autonomous teams.
  • You have significant experience leading an international organization with fixed deadlines and strict financial constraints.
  • Well-versed in environmental and societal challenges, you can define an ambitious, exemplary, and comprehensive sustainability strategy for COJOP 2030 and the broader Alpine region.
  • You have proven experience managing a high-growth, high-stakes organization, including key management functions such as finance, operations, marketing, revenue, branding, communications, and HR.
  • You understand the dynamics of the Olympic and Paralympic movements and can build partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • You have a strong track record in revenue generation for large-scale events, particularly in ticketing and sponsorship, and an in-depth understanding of marketing challenges to ensure budgetary balance.
  • You have knowledge of governance issues and relationships between international, national, and local sports institutions, with prior experience in working with public and private entities.
  • You can quickly adapt to new environments, work under tight deadlines, and demonstrate agility in managing urgent situations.

  • You ensure the successful execution of operations through your skills, commitment, and management, as well as your deep knowledge of the industry, its key players, and the public-private ecosystem.
  • You maintain a strong professional connection with your teams and know how to effectively guide and direct their actions while ensuring overall coherence.
  • You provide a vision, the ability to propose and implement the strategy, in order to successfully lead the project by collaborating with external stakeholders and leveraging internal strengths.
