This week, we have the pleasure to talk to Frank Leenders, Director General of FIBA Media and Marketing Services.
Frank started his professional career during the 1990 FIFA World Cup, with ISL Marketing. In 1992 he joined TEAM Marketing, a start-up at the time, where he was part of the launch and development of the international benchmark project UEFA Champions League since the very first season. Following several positions in marketing and operations, Frank moved to sales and production, and he was appointed Head of the Television department in 1998. In 2001 he moved to Rome, where he was appointed Director of Sports Rights Acquisitions at Sky Italia. After a brief spell in Italy, Frank returned to TEAM, where he became Managing Director and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2005.
Following his departure in 2010, he co-founded Value-Experience, an independent sports marketing firm which, in 2012, developed a dedicated unit for FIBA, the International Basketball Federation. Today, Frank serves as the Director General of FIBA Media and Marketing Services.
Prior to starting his professional career, Frank attended the University of St. Gallen, in Switzerland, from where he holds a degree in Economics. He also holds an MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan.
