We are thrilled to announce the next guest on the iWorkinSport LIVE interview series: Gilberto Silva. After a successful playing career that included stints with Arsenal, Panathinaikos, Club Atlético Mineiro and a World Cup title with the Brazilian National Team in 2002, Gilberto is now focusing his efforts on athlete management and performance coaching. Raised in Lagoa da Prata in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Gilberto got his start in professional football at age 22 when he joined América Mineiro in 1997. In 2000 he moved on to rival club Atlético Mineiro where he quickly made an impact and by 2001 became one of the best players in Brazilian club football.

Following his notable performance in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Gilberto caught the attention of many international coaches. He ultimately joined Arsenal in August of 2002 and contributed to much success including a Premiere League championship in the 2003-2004 season. He vice-captained the team in the 2006-2007 season.

In July 2008 Gilberto moved on to Greek Club Panathinaikos where he helped the team to a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 appearance and a Greek Championship. In 2011 he moved back to Brazil to join Grêmio in Porto Alegre before ultimately returning to Atlético Mineiro in Belo Horizonte in 2012. He officially retired in December of 2015

Since his retirement Gilberto has managed a variety of professional football players around the world. In 2021 Gilberto teamed up with high performance and mental training coach Susana Torres and two-time Olympic Champion Susana Met to launch Sport World Coaching, a company focused on mental training for the sports world. The company aims to increase the performance of athletes as well as bring better results for teams, coaches, clubs, managers, entrepreneurs and other people in the sports world.
